The Right Way to Prostrate Like His Prostration, Rosululloh Saw.
Asalamualaikum warohmatullohi wabarokatuh.
Prayer is the main worship in Islam. It was said in a hadith that this prayer was the pillar of religion, people who did not pray meant dropping religion. And it is also said in a hadith that prayer is the key to heaven. Whoever prays is awake then he is in the guarantee of Allah SWT.
Discussing about prayer is certainly not separated from the pillars of prayer.
Pillars of prayer are all things that must be done in performing prayers. Like the discussion this time we discuss one of the pillars of prayer, namely "Sujud"
Rosululloh saw. say
"Pray as you see me praying." (Narrated by Bukhari 631, 5615, 6008)
Because the discussion this time we discuss the Prostration, we converge only on the Sujud discussion.
How was the prostration of Rosululloh peace be upon him?
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:
"I was ordered to prostrate by resting on seven limbs: Forehead - and he gestured by touching his hand to his nose -, two palms, two knees, and the ends of two legs." (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim)
Based on the above hadith, we can detail the seven members of the prostration
- Forehead and nose covering (1)
- Two palms (2)
- Two knees (2)
- Two legs. (2)
We can read the perfect form of prostration in the following explanation:
1. Pasting the Forehead and Nose on the Floor
"The Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam pressed his forehead and nose to the floor ..."
(Narrated by Abu Daud, Turmudzi and disregarding Al-Albani in the nature of prayer, p. 141)
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
"There are no prayers for people who don't stick their noses to the ground, just as he put his forehead to the ground."
(HR. Ad Daruqutni and At Thabrani and dishonored Al-Albani in the Nature of Prayer, p. 142)
This hadith shows, sticking his nose when prostration is obligatory.
2. Place both hands on the floor and parallel to your shoulders or ears
"The Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam put his hands (when prostration) parallel to his shoulders." (Narrated by Abu Daud, Turmudzi and dishahihkan Al Albani in the Nature of Prayer, p. 141)
And sometimes "He puts his hand parallel to the ear."
(Narrated by Abu Daud and An Nasa'i with saheeh sanad as mentioned by Al-Albani in the Nature of Prayer, p. 141)
3. Close the fingers and expose them to the Qibla direction
"The Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam pressed his fingers together when prostration. "
(Narrated by Ibn Khuzaimah and Al Baihaqi and dishahihkan Al Albani)
"He exposes his fingers towards the Qibla." (Narrated by Al Baihaqi with a saheeh sanad, as explained by Shaykh Al Albani in the Nature of Prayer)
Ibn Umar radhiallahu ‘anhu said,
"The Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam likes to expose his limbs to the qibla when praying. Until he puts his thumb in the Qibla direction. "
(Narrated by Ibn Sa'd and denied Al-Albani in the nature of prayer, p. 142)
4. Lifting both arms and stretching them so far away from the stomach
"He did not put his arm on the floor." (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Abu Daud)
"He raised his arms and spread them so that they were far from his stomach, until he saw his white armpit from behind." (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim)
"He widened his arms, so that the goat child could pass under his arm." (Narrated by Muslims and Abu ‘Awanah)
The Prophet sallalla ‘alaihi wa sallam was very serious in stretching his arms to prostration, until there were some friends who said," Indeed we feel sorry for the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam because he was very hard when stretching his arms at prostration."
(Narrated by Abu Daud and Ibn Majah with sanad hasan as explained by Shaykh Al Albani in the nature of prayer)
Note:
Stretching both arms when prostration is recommended if it does not disturb the other person next to them. If you disturb other people, for example when praying in congregation, then you should not spread your hands, but still have to lift your elbows so that they do not stick to the floor. Because attaching elbows when prostration includes prostrations which are prohibited.
5. Stick the Knee on the Floor
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
"We were ordered to prostrate with resting on seven limbs: ... one of them rests on both knees." (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim)
Note:
Are the knees tightened or stretched?
There is no information about this problem. Therefore, the position of the knee when prostrating should be adjusted to the most comfortable conditions according to the person who prays. If he feels comfortable by stretching his knees, it should be stretched and vice versa, if he feels comfortable with the condition of his knees pressed together, it should be close together.
Shaykh Ibn Al-Uthaymeen said,
"The law of origin (prayer movement) is to put the limbs in accordance with the original condition of the body until there are arguments that disperse them." (Ash Syarhul Mumthi ’, 1: 574)
6. Act I'tidal When Prostration
Shaykh Muhammad bin Shaleh Al Utsaimin explained that what is meant by "i’tidal when prostration" is stretching between the calf and thigh, and stretching between the abdomen and thigh, each approximately 90 degrees. However, it should not be excessive when stretching the calves with thighs, so that it is more than 90 degrees. (Asy Syarhul Mumthi ’, 1: 579)
From Anas bin Malik radhiallahu ‘anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam said, "Be 'tidal when prostration." (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim)
From Abu Humaid radhiallahu ‘anhu, he recounted the procedures for the prayer of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam: ... When he prostrated, he stretched his thighs apart, without even touching his thigh with his stomach.
(Narrated by Abu Daud and blessed by As Syaukani in Nailul Authar)
7. Place the ends of the feet and bend so that the edges face the Qiblah
"The Prophet sallalla‘ alaihi wa sallam put his two knees and the ends of both feet on the ground. "(Narrated by Al Baihaqi with saheeh sanad, declared saheeh by Al Hakim and dishahihkan Al Albani)
"He straightened his feet." (Narrated by Al Baihaqi with saheeh sanad and dishahihkan Al Albani) And "He ordered (his followers) to do it." (HR. At Turmudzi, Al Hakim and dishahihkan Al Albani)
"He confronts his back and the tips of his toes in the direction of the Qibla."
(Narrated by Al Bukhari and Abu Daud)
8. Close the Heel
"He pressed his heels together (when prostrating)."
(Narrated by At Thahawi and Ibn Khuzaimah and dishahihkan Al Albani)
Thus the sunnah taught by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. In order for our prayers to be perfect, we must guard this noble sunnah and we adhere to it.
